The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN", one of centers affiliated to Qatar Social Work Foundation, is participating in Ramadan Book Fair organized by Ministry of Culture, represented by Qatar Center for Cultural and Heritage Events, through “My Book is My Friend" initiative by providing a number of books and stories for children. This initiative contributes in achieving the center's strategic objectives by providing awareness and education for the targeted groups of children, to activate the principle of community partnership among various external parties.

The fair will continue until April 16 in the western square of Souq Waqif.

In this context, Mrs. Hanan Al-Ali, Director of the Communication and Media Office at Aman Center, confirmed the Center's keenness to participate in local fairs related to culture and books by activating the principle of community partnership through presenting the contributions of Aman Center in the field of children educating and awareness-raising through “My Book is My Friend" initiative. This is an initiative to sell Books and stories for children, as the mechanism of these devices works in the same way as the widespread devices for selling drinks and sweets. These devices have been designed according to children specifications, including: length consideration, ease of use, and instructions in selected types of books and stories that are useful and appropriate for the child.

Mrs. Hanan Al-Ali also explained that these devices were distributed in the main areas of children gathering in the country, such as: malls near the play area, cinemas, public parks and children's clinics.

Mrs. Hanan Al-Ali stressed that the Center's Community Awareness Department is keen on preparing and designing new and innovative programs to protect our children, and that we shall use modern technology to attract children and achieve our vision and mission to attain social protection to reduce violence. We also seek annually to participate in “My Book is My Friend" initiative in Doha International Book Fair. In addition to providing some awareness workshops for children in such cultural gatherings, we join hands and cooperate with various external sectors to achieve our common goals in order to always provide the best for our society.

It is worth mentioning that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" is concerned with the protection and rehabilitation of women and children victims of violence and family breakdown, and their reintegration into society.
